Bob is a physical chemist with a PhD (University of Canterbury). His research interests include: land-water interactions in intensive agricultural systems, gas exchange across the air-water interface, environmental water and contaminant chemistry, greenhouse gas emissions from waterways, diurnal changes in aquatic dissolved oxygen and dye-tracing studies.

Kit is an engineer with a PhD from Auckland University. His main interest is in developing mathematical models to address water quality issues such as dispersion, water temperature, dissolved oxygen depletion, nutrients and plant growth, and ecosystem structure and function. More recently this work has been extended to catchment scale modelling of nutrient runoff and nutrient transformations that occur in the riparian zone and the stream channel.

John is a stream ecologist with a BSc Hons from University of Otago and a PhD from Massey University. His current research interests include the effects of forestry and pastoral agricultural land uses and the rehabilitation and restoration of streams and lakes. His applied ecology has included the influences of riparian buffers along stream in mitigating the effects of forest harvest and pastoral land use. John has established long-term studies and is interested in integrated approaches involving land and aquatic research and social and biophysical science.

Scott is an ecosystems ecologist with a PhD (University of Hawaii). His research interests tend towards the interdisciplinary: interactions between ecosystem processes and hydrodynamics, between river flow regimes and biological communities, and between nutrient cycles and aquatic food webs. Recent research has focused on the biology and chemistry of intermittent rivers and hyporheic zones, hydrological processes in alluvial rivers, and water quality issues.

Chris Tanner is an applied aquatic ecologist with PhD from the University of Waikato. He leads NIWAs Water Quantity and Quality research programme.
