NIWA provides a multitude of monitoring and information services underpinning New Zealand's science and environmental management: sky-to-sea, sensor-to-service, data-to-knowledge.
NIWA collects a vast range of environmental information from New Zealand’s environment from the sky (remote sensing, upper atmosphere) to the seafloor (ocean geology, sea floor). These observation operations are underpinned by NIWA’s instrument services, field services, lab services and support NIWA’s national monitoring networks.
NIWA maintains a range of services for delivery of data and derived information to clients. We are doing that through a variety of services, stand-alone client applications, web-portals, smartphone apps, and cellphone (SMS) control systems.
NIWA maintains a range of national environmental observation services and datasets which underpin New Zealand’s research and fosters our improved understanding of some of our most precious national environmental resources, their spatial distributions, and temporal trends.
